Patrick McKenzie is the author of MicroISV on a Shoestring, a blog focused on
running small software businesses (where ISV stands for Independent
Software Vendor). Or to put it in Patrick's words "you know, one of us folks
selling software over the Internet as we lounge around at home in our
pyjamas."
Patrick started his blog to accompany the project that launched his
entrepreneurial career, Bingo Card Creator (http://www.bingocardcreator.com/).
He was an english teacher (among many other things) and really hated having to
waste time prepping for classes when he could be helping students. One activity
he loved, but which took an hour of his life every time he ran it, was vocabulary
bingo. Patrick figured there had to be a better way to do this so he created a
program and decided it might actually be worth something to other people too.
He then opened a business to sell his software and his blog followed shortly
afterwards to chronicle his experiences in more-or-less real time. « Back to full list of bloggers
